Gesher/LIT (age 14)

The JCC Camps at Medford Gesher/LIT (Leader In Training) Program is a summer program for teens entering 9 th grade. This program is the bridge between being a full time camper and becoming a JCC Camps at Medford staff member. LIT incorporates leadership development, staff training, summer job placements and weekly trips while building lifelong relationships.
Leader In Training

Prior to the camp season, LITs request the area of camp that interests them the most for summer job placement. Each job opportunity creates a unique experience where participants learn and develop the necessary skills to become future JCC Camps at Medford staff members.

Programs include:

  • Bunk Placement
Assist counselors with groups of campers.
Choose the age groups you wish to work with in Camps Hilltop and Shalom.
  • Aquatics
Hands on skills training and experience in how to be a lifeguard, pool staff member and swim instructor.
Leadership Development

Experience a summer of learning and growing at the Gesher/LIT program at JCC Camps at Medford. LIT’s participate in weekly leadership development training sessions where they learn lifelong skills. Past programs include: Working with campers with special needs and disabilities, 21st century skills, constructive disagreements with co-workers and the importance of self-care in the work environment.

Weekly Trips & Fun Activity Periods

Our Gesher/LIT participants are still considered campers. That means tons of fun enjoying weekly day trips at summer destinations in the Tri-State Area and activity periods designed just for them. Activities include: Dorney Park, Ocean City, NJ, Great Adventure, Lake Inflatables, Gaga Tournaments and volunteering experiences like a visit to the Jewish Relief Agency to pack food for those in need followed by a fun ropes course experience!
